Thanks to The Nod Blog

Mel B is about to take on Victoria Beckham in the fashion stakes.

The former Spice Girl and her husband Stephen Belafonte are in London for a few days, as Mel is meeting with fashion bosses at Arcadia and brand directors of Miss Selfridge, Dorothy Perkins and BHS.

A fashion mole tells us: “Arcadia are keen to sign Mel in some way and she’s come in for talks. It won’t be for Top Shop as Kate Moss is in there and Yasmin Le Bon is with Wallis, but there is potential for Mel, if she wants to do something.”

We hope she does – you can’t beat a bit of animal print. And Mel rocked the jumpsuit trend 10 years ago! As long as there are no Buffalo platform shoes, we think it will fly off the shelves.

And our industry spy adds: “Mel’s collection may seem a bit low brow compared to her old bandmate Victoria Beckham’s designer collection, but it would work out much better for her. Arcadia would look after all the marketing while she’s living in LA and busy working on other projects.”

Mel certainly has her hands full right now, with the new Spice Girls musical currently being written by Mama Mia creator Judy Craymer.

And could we be about to see her on the X Factor? With Dannii Minogue not doing the audition stages, the space is vacant for guest presenters and Mel has made no secret of the fact she’s keen.

Watch this space!

Mel B has insisted that there is no rivalry between her and Victoria Beckham.

Like Beckham, Mel has her own fashion range, though she has played down talk of competition with her fellow Spice Girl.

“The Spice Girls have never really been in direct competition with each other,” Metro quoted Mel as saying. “I’m doing my own stuff and Victoria’s fashion stuff is really well established but completely different.”

Mel added that moving to the US has helped revive her music career. She said: “I’ve been doing really well. I managed to get hold of Missy Elliot and Lil’ Kim and they are up for doing some stuff.”

Mel B’s new album Reimagined, her third solo record, is scheduled for release early next year.

Hi everyone,

It’s been a really busy week. We arrived in Boston last Monday ahead of our show on Wednesday night.

Before the show I did a dVb signing in Saks and it was a huge success. I want to say a big thank you to the hundreds of fans that turned up, it was a great welcome. I’ll be doing more signings over the next month so I hope to see some of you there. I’ll be at Saks in Chicago on February 15 and then on February 26 I’ll be at Holt & Renfrew in Toronto.

From Boston we went to Montreal and then we went to Toronto. The kids were so excited when we landed in Toronto because there was so much snow. They had a snow ball fight the minute their feet touched the ground!!

We really enjoyed our first show in “Spice City” Toronto, it was great to be there and the crowd were so loud. I’m back at the hotel now and we are getting ready to travel to New York for our next show on Wednesday night. We really are having a great time on the road, its fun to be back together with the girls and I’ll be really sad when it’s over.

Lots of love

Dot SPICEBLOG: Victoria on Madrid, Manchester & a lost Spice bracelet

Hello,

I’m writing this on the plane on the way home from Madrid – I can’t believe it was our last show of 2007, the time is going by so fast. It was great to return to Madrid having lived there for so long. I had the chance to say hello to some friends before the show, which is always nice.

We’re having so much fun on tour. I know it sounds like a cliché but it really is the truth. I think for me, the highlight so far was Tuesday night at The O2 Arena in London and having our kids on stage with us during Mama. I’ve said it lots of times before but my boys really are the reason that I am doing this and to have them up there with me was a very proud moment.

Talking of the show on Tuesday, Mel B lost her bracelet as it flew off in to the audience and we want to say a big thank you to David who picked it up and contacted our management company to tell us that he had it. We’re grateful to him for being so honest and we’ll be meeting up with him before one of our shows in January to say thank him in person.

Roberto Cavalli came along to a couple of the shows in London. He has worked so hard on our amazing costumes so it’s great for him to see us up there performing in them.

We have a little break now and then we’ll be back at The O2 Arena in the new year before heading up to Manchester, where there is always a fantastic atmosphere so we’re excited about that. On a personal note, I’m really looking forward to performing in Manchester as we lived there for quite a while and I really love it.

I’m really looking forward to Christmas, to spending time with David, the boys and my family. We are taking the boys to see Father Christmas and they are so excited!

We’re about to land so I have to go now but thank you all so much for your support. I hope that you all have a lovely Christmas and we’ll see you in January!

Lots of love

Victoria

Dot SPICEBLOG: Victoria on Ugly Betty, Victoria’s Secret & Children In Need

Hi everyone,

I’m currently sat in our rehearsal studio and I am about to have another fitting with the Cavalli team for our costumes. The other girls will kill me if I give anything away and I don’t want to ruin any surprises… but they look amazing! Roberto and his team have done us proud.

Rehearsals are going really well, I can’t believe that there are only a few weeks until the first show in Vancouver. It’s really scary but exciting at the same time. David and the boys have been laughing at me because I’ve been wandering around the house listening to my iPod and practising the routines. We are including some parts of the old routines but bringing them up to date a bit.

All of the kids have been down to rehearsals. We have an area where they all hang out… its a Spice creche! My boys are so excited about the tour, they can’t wait and I’m really looking forward to them seeing me up on stage. I just hope I don’t get over emotional when I see them!

Ugly Betty was shown over here in the US on Friday, I had such a laugh filming it. If you’re in the UK then you will be able to see the episode on Channel 4 at 9pm on Friday 23 November.

This week is a really busy one for us because not only are we rehearsing for the tour but we are going to be performing at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show on Thursday. Friday is BBC Children In Need day in the UK and we will performing from LA. We will be doing two songs, our new single Headlines (Friendship Never Ends) and also Stop – which is going to look fantastic. I can’t give too much away but it’s definitely going to be worth watching.

We’ve just had a break for lunch and now we’re going to rehearse with our band… and I’m holding things up to write this blog so I’d better go soon!

Finally, a big thank you to everyone who has been out to buy a copy of our Greatest Hits, we hope you enjoy it

Lots of love

Victoria xxxxx
